Our Mission

To nourish and empower the local community by training a new generation of confident and mindful doulas.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Birth physiology, anatomy, and foetal positioning

  • Birth rights, birth choices and what doula support can look like

  • Respect and acceptance of parents and their decisions

  • Unexpected situations, emergencies, crisis situations, baby loss.

  • Bonding physiology, innate needs of mothers and babies, infant feeding

  • The power of language, communication and listening skills

  • Working with the NHS, midwives and health providers

  • Common sense, diplomacy and boundaries

  • Transforming your passion in your business

COURSE OUTLINE

Facilitated by local doulas living within Northern Ireland, with 25 years of collective experience, providing insight into NI maternity services and extensive experience of supporting the local birthing community.

2. SUPPORT

Ongoing support throughout the course with monthly mentoring calls between training weekends. Also with the option to join an exclusive private online support group.

3. TIME

Course attended on 2 weekends, spread over 3 month period giving you plenty of time for reflection and course completion.

4. NETWORK

Instant networking opportunities with doulas working in Northern Ireland, as well as trust contacts.

5. CONFIDENCE

Confidence to support all types of birth, to support families postnatally, and to be enthusiastic and fully prepared to work as a doula in Northern Ireland.

6. DOULA UK and DAI APPROVED

Our training is approved by Doula UK,  the UK's leading doula association, and by the Doula Association of Ireland, Ireland's most active community of professional doulas. All of our graduates can become members of DUK and/or DAI and avail of the mentorship and peer support of the doula community.

Dates of online sessions TBC (August and September); Graduation in December

* We offer one discounted place in each training to people from ethnically diverse communities, from the LGBTQIA+ community, with physical, mental or health impairments or someone who has a financial barrier to signing up.
